Lightweight Skid Tube Protectors are made of stainless steel. The Skid Tube Protector is sandwiched between the skid shoes and the skid tube, eliminating unsightly clamps and the necessity of stepping around them when loading and unloading passengers. The skid shoes have a Tungsten-Carbide contact surface for increased wear, while the base material is stainless steel.

Robinson R-22 Skid Tube Protector (BSS-22-02 ) must be used in conjunction with Aeronautical Accessories brand FWD Carbide Skid Shoes (BSS-22-04) and Center/AFT Carbide Skid Shoes (BSS-22-03); OEM Weld Bead Skid Shoes cannot be used.
